AQUATIC RESCUE MANAGEMENT

Background

Water Safety BoardsWater Safety Tube RescueLifeguardLifeguardTraining27

In the past aquatic water safety for aquatic based events such as triathlons, aqua-thons and water craft racing relied on volunteers or no water safety at all. Events were organised in a more carefree environment and the validity of qualifications and training of the water safety staff was minimal or not conducted at all.

In the summer of February of 2000 an event organiser contacted me for assistance. She had contracted the services of a local volunteer group but had been informed one day prior to the event that instead of 13 staff they could only supply four. I rallied my fellow lifeguards together and we were able to provide the water safety required.

In July 2000 Aquatic Rescue Management was formed. It was formed to provide event organisers with an option when looking for water safety, it provided lifeguards with the benefits of working for a company, it formalised what we had been doing in the past and provided security to all parties involved by way of an appropriate business structure.

Water Safety is no longer just ringing around a few people and asking if they can help out on a Sunday morning. Aquatic Rescue Management prides itself on providing a professional service that can be relied on. Aquatic Rescue Management takes a holistic approach to water safety.

Event Management

Aquatic Rescue Management is not an event manager or organiser we are contracted by the event manager/organiser to provide specialty professional services; water safety and management of the aquatic component of the event. We work closely with the event manger to ensure a safe and enjoyable event and able to produce event emergency and medical plans.

Staff and Qualifications

Aquatic Rescue Management uses the services of professional lifeguards holding the minimum qualification of Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue). It is encouraged and has been the standard for all employees that have been employed by Aquatic Rescue Management over the last two years that they hold the qualification of Certificate III in Public Safety (Aquatic Search and Rescue). Both certificate qualifications are nationally recognised by the Vocational Education and Training Board (VETAB), are taught by Registered Training Organisations (RTO) and are the recognised standard for lifeguarding in Australia

All our employees are current certified professional lifeguards that are dedicated to increasing the professional standard of lifeguarding throughout Australia.

Each employee has extensive professional experience, as each is a professional ocean lifeguard employed on a fulltime or seasonal basis with a local council or municipality.

Each employee completes at a minimum an annual physical proficiency.
